DUBLIN: City Guide

STAY:

  • The Spencer: Romantic getaway. If you are looking for health inspired (has a spa and health club attached) and to stay out of the craziness this place is perfect for you. We had a balcony suite that overlooked the river and it was so relaxing and gorgeous! We spent the evening in our robes relaxing and eating takeout from the incredible restaurant in the hotel: East. Highly recommend!
  • The Westin: Traditional elegance. Located in the middle of the Temple Bar area. This is a very traditional hotel that even serves mid-day tea. We purchased the stay through our Marriot Bonvoy awards; which saved us a ton of money. To be honest, this was not our favorite stay. It needs a lot of updating (again it’s traditional) but the money you’d be paying its a no go.
  • The Morgan: Hip and centrally located. This is the sister hotel of The Spencer and is located in the heart of the Temple Bar area. I highly recommend this hotel! Great service, great location, and a fantastic price for a new hip hotel in the middle of everything!
  • The Dean: Major PARTY vibes. Really cool vibe in a cool area of town, but it is LOUD!! I am way past my party all night vibes, and unfortunately, its located on the street that ALL the clubs are on, so if you’re into the party all night this is the perfect hotel for you. They do provide earplugs, but to be honest they don’t do sh**! My advice be ready to party all night (which we decided to do) or stay somewhere else. Service was less than stellar. Very rude and didn’t really care; which really turned me off of the hotel from the start.

EAT:

  • Wilde: $$$ Looking for an incredible dinner, spectacular cocktail and an magical vibe? Well, Wilde has your name all over it. Hands down BEST Rosé flight I have ever tasted…Great way to start an evening! We had a flight of Whipering Angel; which also included the limited high end Rock Angel. The Tartar and oysters were out of this world! Highly recommend

  • East: $$ Some of the BEST Thai-inspired food we have had since…well…Thailand. Click HERE to have our full foodie tour of Ireland.
  • The Bank Bar: This place had the most amazing Fish Chowder we have ever had! Stopped in for a glass of wine and a quick bite and was blown away!
  • $ Find some local Fish and Chips….don’t forget the malt vinegar.

DRINK:

  • Temple Bar: established in 1840, Temple Bar is a tradition and located in the heart of the Temple area; which is surrounded by bustling nightlife and lined with cobblestone streets. I mean if you visit Dublin and don’t get a drink at Temple Bar were you even really there? Yes its a bit touristy but you will still get some local flair. For instance, some very interesting Irish bachelor party traditions…bless their little hearts. Plus, the music is phenomenal and they have everything from liquor to beer, and yes even wine (holla to the winos out there)
  • Vintage Cocktail Club: We are always on the hunt in every city we go to to find the BEST creative cocktail bar and Vintage Cocktail Club did not disappoint. Word of the wise…book a reservation! This place is reservation only a must in Dublin. Find the black door and ring the bell, you will then be transformed back in time to this unique cocktail club.
  • The Liquor Rooms: Follow the sign…The Liquor Sign. As you embark into The Liquor Rooms follow the giant neon Liquor sign lights your way down to this cocktail haven.

DO:

  • Grab a fresh Pint at the Guinness Brewery. This is the FRESHEST and smoothest Guinness you will ever taste, and that’s coming from a wine girl! Plus the views are fantastic. Its a part of their heritage and a great experience.
  • Partake in some Irish dancing to some live Irish music…even if its in the middle of the street on a Saturday night; which may or may not have happened.
  • Take back a shot and a tour at the Old Jameson Distillery
  • Relax with a traditional Thai Massage. Looking to wind down? Whenever we travel we love to get a traditional Thai massage. Whether it is a foot massage to pamper our feet after all that exploring or full body to help relax. This is always a must when we travel
  • Get lost in the immensity of Trinity College library.
  • Wander the cobblestone streets and find some local art
